YouTube is a video sharing website where users can upload, view and share video clips. YouTube was created in February 2005 by three former PayPal employees.

Everyone can watch videos on YouTube. People can see first-hand accounts of current events, find videos about their hobbies and interests and discover the quirky and unusual. As more people capture special moments on video, YouTube is empowering them to become the broadcasters of tomorrow.

Youtube Content

YouTube uses Adobe Flash Video technology to display a wide variety of user-generated video content. Content includes movie clips, TV clips and music videos, as well as amateur content such as video blogging and short original videos.

In October 2006, Google Inc. announced that it had reached a deal to acquire the company for US$1.65 billion in Google stock.

Blocking Youtube

YouTube has been blocked in certain countries due to the content that it hosts. Schools in certain countries have started to block access to YouTube because of students uploading videos of bullying behavior.
